FEATURED EPISODE: Art & Being: John Criscitello

John Criscitello

John Criscitello

John Criscitello b.1967 Binghamton New York. Currently residing in Seattle WA. Works as multi-media visual artist, John has tackled a wide variety of subject matter in his work such as rampant materialism, capitalist culture, gay culture, and homoeroticism.

John's latest body of work is a series of paintings that focus on a clash of cultures. In the last few years, Capitol Hill has seen an influx of new moneyed denizens which has served to whitewash a historic enclave of queer and creative individuals.

The paintings John has created combine overtly sexual imagery with homogeneous trends. John hopes this illustrated merge of culture brings to light new money vs. the established community, violence towards the LGBT community, and the commodification of gay culture
