Why You Should or Should Not Listen to Losing Our Religion

Recording Episode 003 with Poet, Writer, and Anarchist Pete GK.

Thought it would be good to set the record strait and candidly fill you in on what you can expect from the new Losing Our Religion podcast and why you should or shouldn't listen to it.

First off, Think conversation not interview.  Think hanging out, not monological sermonizing.  The format is…NO FORMAT.  Life teaches the best lessons when we've stopped trying and started "being".  When we've stopped talking and started listening.

Teetotallers beware.  Almost every conversation will be accompanied by drinks among friends and acquaintances alike.  There's something magical about sitting down with people over food or drinks.

There are no corporations or entities we need to answer to, so our goal with every episode is to be honest.

THE VALUES OF THE SHOW: CANDIDNESS - TRANSPARENTCY -  HONESTY - VULNERABILITY.

THE MISSION OF THE SHOW: CANDID CONVERSATION, WITHOUT WALLS.

Some things to set your expectations in the right place...

IT WILL NOT:
It will not be a Christian Podcast.
It will not be labeled under the "Spirituality" category in iTunes.
It will not have Bible teaching.
It will not be family friendly.
It will not be for a Christian audience.
It will not be overly formatted or produced.
It will not be pretentious.

IT MIGHT:
It might be over the top.
It might be a horrible idea.
It might be a great idea.
It might set people free from being controlled by others.
It might empower people to take off their religious masks.
It might cause you to leave your church.
It might cause you to love your church.
It might make you hate me.
It might make you love me.

IT WILL:
It will be candid talk from real people.
It will be hard for religious people to listen to.
It will feature lascivious characters.
It will be random and pointless at times.
It will be messy and unpolished.
It will polarize and anger those who put dogma over relationship.
It will be offensive to many, including myself at times.
It will showcase that it's OK to be a complete mess.
It will have many haters, none of them will be given voice. (Except for us to make fun of.)
It will cause you to think differently.

GOALS OF THE SHOW
Since the show is unscripted, each show might be completely different.  One episode might seem completely random and pointless. While the next may seem to follow a pattern and structure.
It will be interesting to find out what the thread will be that will carry through all the episodes and only be recognized by the fans of the show.

Lastly, I want to address those that already think I'm crazy. That think I've fallen off the path. That think I may have lost my salvation.  You may be right.  If that's the case, then you can tune in to listen to the train wreck.

WHAT YOU MIGHT THINK THE SHOW IS:
A church bashing free for all.
A parade of angry, hurt people venting.
A giant middle finger to institutional religion.

WHAT THE SHOW MIGHT BE:
A megaphone of humanity, normality and unity.
A global church reality.
A giant hug to those that are angry and hurt.
A giant middle finger to institutional religion.

Godspeed, I hope you join us on this Losing Our Religion journey.  I hope we piss you off.  I hope we make you think.  I hope we make you laugh.
