In this week's episode, we talk about how similar religion and a "relationship with God" are to an abusive relationship, and how leaving it is like a divorce.
SIGNS OF AN ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIP
Does something, denies it, and then exclaims you are crazy. (Gaslighting)
Accuses you of doing things you aren’t doing in which they are actually doing. (Projection)
Does a great job at promising a great future and then delivering a nightmare.
Are chronic liars and are highly manipulative.
Uses guilt, charm, hope, love, obligation, fear, or confusion to get what they want, or to get you to do what they want.
Often likes to agitate, provoke, argue, or “make you out to be crazy” and then pretends to not know why you are so upset.
Has a “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” personality.
Has a staggering lack of empathy and (sincere) remorse for their behavior.
Yells, name calls, belittles, gives the silent treatment.
